Why isn't GetPlotted available as a DVD or CDROM?
The service features an online system designed to help you find more time in a typical day to write your book. Having an online system and also your own desktop backups of your stories mean you are reducing the risks of loosing your work. Downloadable software may also encounter technical issues, with the GetPlotted system this does not occur - if you can see this page, you can use our system!
I don't use Internet Explorer, can I still use your site?
If you can see this page with your current browser, you can use the site. The only necessity is to have cookies and javascript enabled.
I live in the US / Canada / Australia - can I buy a subscription?
Of course you can! Paypal will automatically convert your local currency into the currency we prefer at a fair exchange rate, and you can use the system from anywhere you can get internet access. Please note that the site and support is only available in english, so if this is not your first language, you should consider carefully before purchasing.
Can I use the site on Dial Up Internet access?
Yes. Although if you write LONG chapters (100k or text or more) you may find the performance sluggish. Keep your chapters down to a realistic size.
How do I unsubscribe?
Go to the PayPal transaction that created your subscription, and click the 'cancel' option. That's it. Not exactly rocket science, is it!?!
When I sign up to GetPlotted what do I get?
It's explained above, and on the main page of the website. To recap - you get an interactive writer's manual written by writers for writers, and a 'quickstart' guide in case you already have writing experience, and just want to use the online system. Our writing course has no 'filler' pages, or 'padding'. Just hard, useful information, designed to get you up to speed fast on the process of writing a novel that publishers will love. Our tools allow you to explore your own writing style, and are designed to help you create novels which have the right structure and pace to become bestsellers. Can GetPlotted help me find a publisher?
This is a specialist skill, and we should point out that we are writers, not publishers or agents. We have detailed information in our manual about finding an agent and publisher. You should never pay ANY online company to review your script or to submit to a publisher.
Can I write a novel in 2 weeks?
Of course not. Or rather, not a publishable one! There are a number of individuals out there making a fine living pretending you can create a novel in '14 days' or less. If you stop to think about it, you will realize how ludicrous these claims are. For example, how fast can you type? How long will it physically take you to get 80,000 words down? And edited??? What we CAN say is that the GetPlotted online system, tools and course will SIGNIFICANTLY SHORTEN THE TIME REQUIRED to get your novel to the publish stage.
How is GetPlotted different to other online writing courses?
There's no comparison. Other systems are 'word processor - like' downloads with a couple of extra bells and whistles, or even worse, dry 'ebooks' purporting to explain how to become a writer. GetPlotted is a Ferrari Supercar compared to these 'economy compacts'. GetPlotted offer a quality online manual with unique interactive exercises which will give you key information about writing without all the waffle that is usually bundled into these things. Time is money, and when we created the system, it was designed to facilitate the process of writing, so the one thing we are determined NOT to do is waste your time! To this end we also provide you with numerous tools and services to aid your writing - these fantastic writing widgets are NOT offered by any other online writing course, residential writing course or writing class, and have frankly taken the industry by storm! Now YOU can get access to them too!
How long has GetPlotted been established for?
The website has taken 2 years to develop, and went live in 2005. The system is the distillation of a combined 30 years of experience. Our user feedback to date suggests we 'got it right first time'!
Who owns the copyright to the work I create with GetPlotted?
You do. Copyright law is very simple. As soon as you put words down either electronically or on paper you own the rights. In fact, when you 'preview' your work, you will notice the automatic copyright message at the foot of the page naming YOU as the owner. Each GetPlotted member has their own unique login to our webservers, so as long as you keep your password safe, your work should be secret (until you decide to publish it!). We do recommend you back up your work regularly on your local computer.
I want to buy a Gift Certificate - how long is it valid for?
Certificates can be activated at any time - there are no time limits on them. They provide 6 months free access to the system for the lucky recipient when activated, after which our standard subscription fees become due should the user desire to continue the service.
